YES ON PROPOSITION 8 in California
You've been tagged. PLEASE READ THIS no matter what state you live in. Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children. If gay marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive “age appropriate” information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages.
Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches. The court’s decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs. Including adoption agencies.
A YES vote will not hurt gays. In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits.

A father in Massachusetts was frustrated when his kindergartner was taught about homosexuality at school by the teachers. He insisted he be notified in the future before such things were discussed so he could pull his boy out of school.He was taken to jail. Click Here for the story.
A Catholic adoption agency In the UK closed their doors because of the Government's new homosexual equality laws. The Equality Act forbids discrimination in the provision of goods and services on the basis of sexual orientation. The law was forced through Parliament last year despite past Prime Minister Tony Blair's recommendation that Catholic adoption agencies be exempted from the rules. Click Here for more info.
Earlier this month judges in Connecticut overturned the state law (just as the judges in California did) to legalized gay marriage. This is not just an issue in California. We voted years ago to keep traditional marriage as the only marriage recognized in the state of California, 4 judges overturned our vote…and we need to fight back. That is what this Proposition is about. This is happening everywhere and the leaders of the church and others have warned that the outcome of California’s vote will affect the way the other states vote. So PLEASE…even if you don’t live in California, put this on your blog or email this on. The Internet knows no state line. You know contacts in California that I don’t…and so do your friends. Please pass this on as it could eventually have an effect on everyone!

Photoshop Fun
I'm loving the Photoshop class that Amber and I are taking right now. We are having so much fun and learning som really cool stuff. I'm beginning to realize that all those cool, trendy things that photographers are doing to pictures are just fairly simple Photoshop steps. 
I hope that Ryan and Nick will be happy after Ryan gets home today so that I can take some more pictures to practice on besides the same ones that I've already posted.

This Past weekend was the opening of the Elk Hunt. We went with both my parents and Jeff's parents down near Mayfield in the Manti-La Sal National Forest. We had a great time, got to see a lot of elk, and enjoyed:) the new-fallen snow.
It was a pretty muddy mess, but once it snowed more than the initial 3-4" everything just sort froze over and it was beautiful. The trees were still bright colors of orange, yellow, and red and the sight was amazing. The pictures don't do the scenery justice because I wasn't about to take my good camera camping in the mud and the muck.
What a hot babe I'm married to! Sure do love him lots and lots.
Don't be too jealous of all that orange I'm wearing.
Hey, that reminds me of the funny story on how I got all that orange gear:
Jeff and I had been married about a month when I came home tired from teaching one day. We did the usual "how was your day?" talk and then Jeff said, "I bought you something today." I said "You did, where is it?" Jeff replied, "It's in the bedroom." and he had this really mischievous look on his face and was pretty excited about what it was he had purchased. Being only married for a month or so, I expected to go in our room and find a pink Victoria's Secret bag on the bed. I rounded the corner and found a giant brown bag
on the bed and when I took the items out is was an orange hunting jacket, orange pants, and other hunting attire. I hadn't hunted a day in my life!!! Needless to say, I was actually a little ticked off and told him it was an absolute waste of money, that I would never use it and hunt with him, and that he should take it back. He refused and was convinced that he would convert me over to love hunting. Several years later and a lot of use out of those clothes and I've had to sort-of eat my words. We do love camping and hunting together. Who would've thought? I know that those of you who've known me for a long time would've put money on my not getting dirty, enjoying the outdoors, and helping gut dear & elk... I guess miracles do happen. Now, when I tell the orange hunting clothes story, it always gets a good laugh...even from myself.

I couldn't resist buying the puppy-dog hat when I saw it on Nick in the store. My mom put it on him when I wasn't looking and I absolutely thought it was the cutest thing, especially since Nick loves wearing it.
Love being a mom! This one is one of the best little boys in the whole world.
Prop 8
(I watched this on laughwiththeflea.blogspot.com because they live in Cali & so does my SIL. I'm too dumb to figure out how to blog the video from the link...it keeps saying bad request so I'm just going to put the link instead of the video on this...argh, computers!)
Worth watching if you care about kids and schools and what may happen to both across the country. Let's all hope that voting goes the way it should in November.
Nick & Ryan
Ryan came home from school today and declared that he needed his picture taken with his brother (this happens about every-other day). This is what came of the pictures...Ryan decided that he didn't want to be in most of them because he want to play with the quacking duck that makes Nick smile. I haven't Photoshop-ed them, so I'm sure I'll re-post after I've played with colors and such. I love this serious picture of Nick.
My good friend, Amber, and I have been taking a Photoshop class on Tuesday and Thursdays...lots of fun and learning! I'm learning a lot and I'm hoping that I'll be able to take some decent enough pictures to be able to use all of the fun Photoshop tricks.
Chili Cook-Off
My mom has been up for the past few days...yippee for Gram Time! We had a great time shopping, getting the boys stuff for winter (snowsuits, boots, etc), and spending time together. Ryan especially liked being able to earn a dollar for every book he read to Gram. I think she stopped at about 20 and went for other forms of motivation.
On Saturday night we went to our ward's annual Chili Cook-Off that the local hot-spot...the Shaw's Barn (okay, it's just a regular old barn, but a few times a year it becomes the ward hot spot because we use it for our activities). There were a few buffalo in the pen with the cows and you would've thought they were wild buffalo the way the kids oogled over them. We ate chili (plenty of it), salads, yummy desserts, and frozen bananas. 
Ryan spent most of his time roping the cow until the head fell off the bail of hay and he couldn't get it back on. We even went for a sunset hayride behind the tractor and say all the the leaf colors, they were amazing. The picture of the four of us on the hayride isn't great, but we do thank Nicole for taking it as she is just 12 years old:) We truly live in the most beautiful area where we get to see deer, elk, buffalo (in a corral), leaves changing colors, fruit on trees, and we get to feel the crisp air before most of the rest of the state.

We had a big storm the other evening and I couldn't help but take this picture as the sun was going down. Never mind the quality of the picture..I'm going to have to learn how to take better nighttime pictures during my next "photography 101" with my Dad. There were actually two rainbows, but my camera (couldn't be the user) wouldn't catch the other one because it was fairly pale. This one was so bright and vibrant and I instantly thought of Natalie and my Grandpa. Don't you love when something reminds you of someone and it puts a smile on your face?
Waterfall
It's been a work in progress, but the finishing touch has finally been completed on our beautiful yard. We've worked and worked in our yard and this morning we were finally able to turn the pump on to get the waterfall working. I LOVE it!!! Can't believe how great it looks. Just sort of completes the looks we were going for...very mountainous.
